About me
Hi, I'm Sal!
I'm a deeply curious person that likes to keep things simple. I enjoy building stuff, and keeping up with the latest technology and methodologies. Which explains why I'm building this site with SvelteKit & Rust. I'm always looking for a challenge and to improve my abilities or learn new ones. I believe the most important aspect of being a Software Engineer is knowing how to ask the right questions to find the right answers. If you can do that, you can build anything.
Check out my current projects down below!
Personal Interests
Of course, outside of tech I also enjoy spending time on my other hobbies:
- Staying active with rock climbing, hot yoga, and jiu jitsu
- Reading one of the many books I've started but not yet finished
- Improving my Spanish
- Designing & building new planters for my garden
Technical Skills
I love exploring new tech and so I have exposure to many different languages and frameworks. That said, I do try to focus on a certain few. For application development, I'm partial to AvaloniaUI because it's a modern, vastly improved WPF which is what I started on. For web development, I'm leaning into SvelteKit. For nearly all other usecases that it's viable for, I try to use Rust.

- Database Management
S-Cubed was an amazing experience. Working on the control software for advanced custom-built-to-order lithography equipment, I was able to push code, walk into the next room and see my code executing on the machines immediately. I was exposed to so many technologies and concepts. Every day was an adventure where I got to learn something new.

Current Projects
When I'm not working or spending time on other hobbies, I love to throw myself into one of my many project ideas. Here are some that I'm currently working on or plan on starting soon.
The site still needs to be optimized for smaller screens. There's also some minor styling issues I'd like to solve, such as the horizontal lines under section headers just being arbritary lengths and background gradients in darkmode being way too jarring.
